EuroEspes, the private company with the greatest scientific production per employee in Spain

EuroEspes, Biomedical Research Center According to a report by the Institute of Health Carlos III on the scientific documents published
on biomedicine between 1994 and 2002, 88% of its professionals are authors of an article on biomedicine.
EuroEspes, a center of international reference in research and medical
care in the field of the Central Nervous System, is the private company
with the greatest scientific production per employee in the field of
biomedicine in Spain. According to a report1 by the Institute of Health
Carlos III, EuroEspes, with a staff of 58 professionals, published a
total of 51 scientific articles in this area between 1994 and 2002.
EuroEspes' volume of production in biomedicine places it in
the ninth position in the ranking, above large enterprises of the
pharmaceutical industry which have ten times the number of staff. These
data highlight EuroEspes' commitment with research, one of the
mainstays of the center, on equal terms with medical care.
The scientific publications of EuroEspes are centered on
research related to the Central Nervous System, mainly in genetics and
risk factors related to neurodegenerative disorders, such as
Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and other dementias.
EuroEspes is also one of the companies which carries out
the greatest number of works in collaboration with foreign centers (29%
of its production). Since its founding, in 1992, this institution has
stood out due to its participation in publications and forums of
worldwide reference, such as the meetings of the European Association
of Psychiatry, the European Association of Neurosciences, the
International Symposium on Alzheimer's Disease or the World Gerontology
Congress, among others.
Over the last 12 years EuroEspes has doubled its number of
scientific contributions on degenerative disorders of the Central
Nervous System, said number being over 1,600, including conferences,
publications, books and articles during the year 2004.
