EuroEspes began its activity in 1991. Emanating from an idea of international convergence, the objective of this project, led by Professor Ramón Cacabelos, is to provide a solution to the growing problem represented by diseases of the Central Nervous System and by aging.
EuroEspes’ main distinguishing mark is its innovative calling. In keeping with our company philosophy, we have, from the very beginning, furthered the integration of research projects and development processes in order to expedite the practical implementation of scientific breakthroughs. This commitment to innovation has enabled EuroEspes to offer medical care of the highest standard, a comprehensive genetic diagnosis service, exclusive protocols for pharmaceutical development, and its own computer programs.
The current EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center (CIBE) was opened in 1995. it is located in Santa Marta de Babío (Bergondo), a few kilometers outside the city of La Coruña. CIBE is the first private organization to undertake the monographic, multidisciplinary study of diseases of the Central Nervous System (CNS), integrating specialized healthcare and scientific research. As a monographic institution devoted to the research, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system, CIBE is a center of international reference in the field of biomedicine.

Since it was opened in 1995, EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center has catered for an average of 600 new patients each year, and over 3,000 medical consultations yearly.
