EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center has extensive experience in the Research and Development of new drugs for Alzheimer’s disease and other Central Nervous System disorders. Thanks to the basic and clinical neuropharmacological research carried out over the last two decades, EuroEspes is one of the organizations which have contributed most to the progress in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia.

Estudio 1:

MimoVax: "A anti-amyloid vaccine for Alzheimer’s"

EuroEspes is taking part in the first project (MimoVax) which has the approval of the European Community (FP6, contract no. LSHB-CT-2006-037702) for the development of an anti-amyloid vaccine for Alzheimer’s. The aim of the MimoVax project is to develop a safe, effective vaccine against Alzheimer’s disease by using synthetic peptides, called “Mimotopes” because they are capable of mimicking natural protein fragments (endogenous neo-epitopes) which are present in the highly pathological, abundant derivatives of the beta-amyloid protein, but not in the Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP). By means of this innovative strategy it is intended that the MimoVax vaccine will attack the toxic forms of the amyloid without affecting the APP, and at the same time preventing the appearance of immunological reactions produced by the auto-reactive T-cells.

Estudio 2:

Cerebrolysin (Cere): "A neurotrophic agent for Alzheimer’s"

At EuroEspes several clinical research studies have been carried out in which the safety and efficacy of Cere as a single or combined treatment for Alzheimer’s disease has been proven. The confirmation of Cere as a disease-modifying therapy will be dealt with in the new research propounded by EuroEspes.

Other new treatments for Alzheimer’s

EuroEspes has taken part in numerous clinical trials with drugs and continues to investigate new molecules which may be an alternative for the treatment of dementia in general and Alzheimer’s disease in particular.
Patients who fulfill the necessary requirements may take part voluntarily and free of charge in all the clinical trials carried out at EuroEspes with new drugs.
